Fashion Fascist is a new online project from Melbourne author Iolanthe Gabrie, which seeks to examine fashion and style from a perspective quite different to populist style blogs.
The Fashion Fascist project encourages you to look beyond beauty, examine beyond the commercial – to instead decode the message that the ‘wearer’ of fashion is communicating to the public with their style choice. Who is a fashion fascist? Probably you – almost certainly me. If you use clothing to express emotion, if you use style as a tool to portray power, education, intelligence or importance – you already understand the latent cues and inherent value of symbol in design.
Join the Fashion Fascist project as we explore the power of style, unpacking the visual cues of fashion fascists from Clara Petacci to Lady Gaga. Subscribe to our blog below and develop your fashion vocabulary beyond merely admiring the new and attractive.
